Statement of Faith (Short Version)
God
God We believe in the one true God of the Bible, who though He is one, exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1, 26; Deut. 6:4; Isa. 44:6; Matt. 3:16-17; 28:19-20; John 10:30; 2 Cor. 3:17-18; 13:14).
Scriptures
We believe that the Bible is the holy, inspired, inerrant, infallible, sufficient word of God, comprised of the sixty-six books of the Protestant Old and New Testaments (Ps. 19:7-8; 119:97-105; 119:160; 2 Pet. 1:3; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 3:16).
Salvation
We believe that salvation can only be achieved by the grace of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8-9). All people are born sinners (Rom. 3:23; 5:12-21). In order to be saved, a sinner must repent of sin and place trust in Christ alone (Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21). If a person is truly saved, they will show evidence by continuing in the faith and can never lose that salvation (Matt. 10:22; John 6:38-40; 10:27-28; Rom. 8:38-39; Eph. 1:13-14; 1 Pet. 1:5).
Eternity
We believe that all true followers of Christ will spend eternity with Him in heaven and that all who do not turn to Christ will face eternal torment in hell (Matt. 25:31-46; John 14:1-3; Rev. 20-22).
The Church
We believe that the church is a localized congregation of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who have joined together to carry out His commands (Acts 2:37-42; Matt. 28:18-20). The church is precious to the Lord Jesus and all true believers will be involved in a church. The officers of the church include elders (or pastors) and deacons (Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:1-13). A church is entitled and required to perform church discipline for the good of its members (Matt. 18:15-20; 1 Cor. 5).
Church Ordinances
We believe that there are two ordinances every church should perform because of Christ's commands. These acts are not means of salvation. They include baptism and the Lord's Supper (or communion) (Matt. 28:19; Luke 22:19-20).
The Family
We believe a marriage is between one man and one woman who intend to enter the covenant of marriage for the duration of life on earth (Gen. 2:18-25; Matt. 19:1-11). Such a marriage is the only permissible and appropriate channel for intimate companionship, sexual expression, and the blessing of children for the propagation of the human race (Gen. 1:27-28; 2:23-25; 1 Cor. 7:1-5). In the home, the husband's role is love, leadership, and nurture; the wife's role is submissive respect and help; and the children's role is honor and obedience (Eph. 5:22--6:4).
